Bourgeois bohemia in a class by itself

Along with Charlotte Gainsbourg, Claire Danes, Vanessa Paradis, Nicole Kidman and Elodie Bouchez we are big fans of the French fashion genius who creates clean styles season after season that focus on the person wearing them. Her collection consists of casual, classical and clean cut clothes that are destined to become wardrobe favorites.

Vanessa Bruno was born into the world of fashion as daughter of a Danish mother, who was a famous model in the 60’ies, and a French father, who was the founder of fashion labels Cacharel and Emmanuelle Khan. Thus, it was almost a given that their daughter, Vanessa Bruno, would make a career in designing dresses, accessories, bags and clothes.

In 1995, at age 24, Vanessa Bruno made her entrance on the fashion stage, when she launched her own line. Since then she has become a star – without acting out. Vanessa Bruno is one of the few designers who – true to her own style – creates clothes that can be taken directly from the catwalk and into your wardrobe. Her clothes do not scream art, they are not loud and avant-garde, but are usable and classical wardrobe favorites. At first glance her clothes may not seem as funny as a sequenced jacket, leather leggings, red soled Louboutin shoes and disco lights, but nevertheless they are guaranteed to become your all-time favorites.

The label is the epitome of Parisian chic – with an added a pinch of coolness. Materials are mixed and matched: coarse wool is teamed up with light cotton, lace with mohair, crepe with delaine – all put to use in her soft silhouettes in soft nuances or bright colors. A simple, beige skirt combined with a colorful knitted top, trapeze dresses, classic chinos matched with a loose shirt, soft cotton blouses, simple dresses and cool bags is what the Parisian label is all about. Her diffusion line, Vanessa Bruno Athé, fully captures the Bruno-style – but at affordable prices.
