Swedish jewelry in a class by itself
Humerous, fine jewlery from one of the fashion and art world’s best conceptual collaborations: designer Eva Schildt and illustrator Maja Sten have created a jewelry label, which is anything but pretentious, affectionate or expensive. Imagine two kindergarten pupils in the Ballongen Kindergarten who would spend every day drawing puppies and comparing details. Later yet, imaging that Eva Schildt trained to become a product designer while Maja Sten ended up as an illustrator. You don’t need to imagine the rest because in 2002, after having worked together on a show at Desinger’s block in London where the challenge was to combine illustration and product design (and by the way the result was a candle stick in the shape of an owl), the duo could not wait to work together again. The result of this collaboration is My Little Drama – a fun and yet stylish collection of jewelry inspired mainly by animals, nature and icons: a depressed owl, a dancing pierrot, a squirrel hanging from a branch – just to mention a few strokes of genius that went from idea to gold or silver. The prices are the equally brilliant – a necklace in gold is around EUR 100 while the delicate silver necklaces come at a price of EUR 70. Both would be the perfect match with a regular, casual outfit. |
